I was a kid in Houston, Texas when I first saw Jurassic Park, and what it gave me was exhilaration — the whole-body kind you don't have a word for yet. I wanted to make someone else feel that. I've been chasing the feeling ever since.
The chase started with an application. I wrote to Donut Media asking to write for them, and got it — full-length scripts for the flagship YouTube series Bumper 2 Bumper and WheelHouse, 11M+ cumulative views, learning how to take technical subject matter and turn it into something people actually finish. Austin came next, at Texas Crew Productions, cutting documentary television on How I Caught My Killer. Then Los Angeles, and an MFA in Film and Television Production at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.
In between, British Columbia — directing and editing Area 27 Presents: Momentum, a mini-documentary built around a premier race weekend, sitting down on camera with 1997 Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve. Area 27 brought me back to direct and produce their official members brand commercial, concept through final delivery.
Today I write and direct my own narrative work out of Los Angeles — psychological horror in Open Door Killer, fantasy drama about grief in Heavy Metal, a character study of a wheelchair-bound bodybuilding champion in Look At Me, and political satire in #DirtyDawson. Different genres, same instinct: find the human being under the premise, then build every department around them.
